The Dodgers and Univision Los Angeles today announced a three-year partnership that will make Univision Radio KTNQ 1020 AM the Spanish-language flagship station of the Dodgers’ radio network through the 2018 season.
Hall of Fame broadcaster and “the Spanish Voice of the Dodgers” Jaime Jarrín returns to the broadcast booth for his 58th season alongside son Jorge Jarrín, who joins Jaime in the booth for the second season. The Jarríns are the only father-son broadcasting team in MLB Spanish-language radio.
“When we thought of the best way to connect authentically with the Spanish-speaking Hispanic community in Los Angeles, we knew it had to be through a partnership with Univision Los Angeles,” Dodger executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen said. “We’re excited to once again work with Univision Los Angeles and share our stories through the narrations of our beloved Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín on KTNQ 1020 AM and through the many media platforms that we are connected with through our partnership with Univision Los Angeles.”
Said Luis Patiño, senior vice president and general manager of Univision Local Media in Los Angeles: “Hispanic sports fans in Los Angeles love the Dodgers, and Univision Los Angeles is excited to partner with this beloved organization to bring their games and initiatives to life on our radio, television and digital platforms throughout this season and through 2018.”
Through the 2018 season, Univision Radio KTNQ 1020 AM will be the broadcast home for every regular-season game, a total of 162, in the Los Angeles market, eight Spring Training games per year and any potential postseason games. Univision Radio KTNQ 1020 AM’s broadcast schedule kicked off at Spring Training on March 3.
The Dodgers’ partnership with Univision includes full advertising and marketing support to include all Univision-owned radio and television stations and support on their digital platforms. Additionally, Univision will play a key role in all Dodger Hispanic-marketing initiatives, including its marquee Viva Los Dodgers program. Univision will also offer vast media support for all Dodger promotional programs.
