Farm Fresh: Jose De Leon dominates in first 2016 start
By Cary Osborne
Dodgers top right-handed pitching prospect Jose De Leon was outstanding in his 2016 debut for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers on Tuesday, throwing five shutout innings and striking out nine.
De Leon, who missed all of April with a minor ankle injury, allowed two hits and a walk to Miami Triple-A affiliate New Orleans. De Leon threw 88 pitches — 53 for strikes.
The Dodgers’ No. 2 overall prospect (MLB.com) struck out the first four batters he faced and had five through two innings.
This was De Leon’s first-ever start in Triple-A. The 23-year-old finished 2015 in Double-A Tulsa.
