Trayce Thompson, who hasn’t been able to shake a lower back irritation despite the All-Star Break, has become the 20th Dodger to go on the disabled list this season (retroactive to July 10).

Taking his place on the active roster will be infielder-outfielder Zach Walters, who is already on the 40-man roster.

The 26-year-old Walters was acquired during the opening week of the season from Cleveland and has spent the entire season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has a .346 on-base percentage and 491 slugging percentage in 77 games, with 15 doubles and 10 homers, while playing every position except catcher. (Yes, he even pitched to seven batters this year.)

He has played second base, shortstop, third base, left field and right field in his 82-game MLB career, with a .233 on-base percentage and .394 slugging percentage — including 10 homers in 127 big-league at-bats in 2014.

Thompson has a .302 on-base percentage and .436 slugging percentage this season for the Dodgers. He is tied for third on the team with 13 homers.

There has also been mixed news on Andre Ethier, as Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier’s broken right leg still isn’t completely healed, but he will ramp up workouts as his pain tolerance allows, manager Dave Roberts said Friday night after a 13-7 win over the D-backs.

“We’ll monitor, but ramp him up and see where it takes us,” Roberts said after being briefed on the findings of a bone scan taken earlier in the day.

“Because it’s not healed completely, we really don’t have a timetable. It’ll be healed at some point, but this season to hope and expect it to be pain-free is something that’s maybe too optimistic. Andre wants to be back and he’ll do whatever he can to be back.”
